Boo! [Mar. 11th, 2006|09:09 pm]
This is my paragraph about something. My brother is on his Spring Break right now, and so is back from Wisconsin. I'm in a 11th grade now, I don't think I've updated after 10th? Um, my hair is long and I like statics a lot. This is the conclusion of my paragraph about something.

This is a random picture of a 3D model I built some time ago, I don't remember what it is.

Um, Monthly Update? [Oct. 3rd, 2004|02:33 pm]
[mood | happy]
[music |Rilo Kiley, It's a Hit, Unipines!]

Ok, so um... school started almost a month ago. If you want to know my schedule click here. School is tougher than last year, maybe, uh.

Okay, um. Ben's lying, cause he can manage to get As in everything. This is Jill. Um. Ben can't update...exciting..ly. Today is October 3rd, 2004.

This is Ben again, um, Jill's right, I can't update. I think I'm going to get a B in History though. My notes for history last like Monday were:

"Burials."

Ben's lying again. Okay, well...his notes really said that. But Ben is Ben, and he will end up with a 4.0. Don't listen to him. Go away.

This is the end-uh...

Frank's Driving School [Sep. 1st, 2004|11:14 pm]
[mood | good]
[music |none]

So I'm taking drivers ed, and its boring as hell. Frank is the Italien teacher. He talks, shows us a video, and then gives us a break when he needs to light up. That cycle repeats for about 6 hours. We figure he smokes an entire pack with all the breaks he gives us (or that we beg him to give us). So I resorted to playing chess, and scribbling glasses and mustaches on Arnold Shwartzwhatever and other people in our California Drivers Handbook. At lunch break we go to this burger joint and eat. Then we go back. Theres a comic store nearby, boring. Also a liquor store. They sell little boxes of Hagendas, and my friend Wesley tries to pick up all the girls by giving them icecream. Eh, doesn't work. It's so boring though, can't blame him. Only one more day though, one more. Then I can get my permit, but I won't be driving anytime soon. Insurance and stuff. Whatever.

"It's a bear, get him!" [Jul. 29th, 2004|09:44 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |Save Ferris- I don't know what song, its just in my head.]

So I just got back from a week in Yosemite. It was a lot of fun. Black bears invaded our campground every single night, and it was absolutely hilarious. We'd here this rustling somewhere and then all these people running and yelling. It was like a horror movie with all the villagers with pitchforks and torches running after the monster. Here are some quotes that I heard while trying to sleep:

Villagers: "It's a bear, get him!"

Villagers: "Get out of here bear!"

Girl#1: "Hey what's that?"
Girl#2: "Is that a bear?"
Girl#3: "Wait, is it really?"
Girl#1: "Are you sure?!"
Girl#2: "Yeah, its a bear."
All 3: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh" *they proceed to climb onto a table* (they were all like 17 which makes it even funnier)

Great fun it was. I never actually saw one, I was trying to sleep, damn bears. Then the squirrels. They lived under our tent cabins. Damn freaks they were. We were collecting acorns and they ate them all. Grrr...

Anyway, we hiked, biked, and swam every day. It was fun jumping off rope swings into the river (it wasn't that cold, but I bet many people would think so). Oh, and riding bikes in the middle of the night following Colin. That was hillarious:

Colin: "I know the way!" *we ride for 5 minutes*
Colin: "Hey, its this way!" *we turn and ride on for 5 minutes*
Colin: "I was right all a long!" *we turn around and backtrack for 10 minutes*

That basically sums it up. Well, you have to add in the pitch black, low flashlight power, road bikes on narrow dirt paths, and an apple orchard with drugged dogs and rumor of bears. Great fun. Colin's sister got scared though so we turned back... and got lost again...following Colin, lol.

Yep, so now...I'm back, the end.

Summer [Jul. 9th, 2004|08:04 pm]
[mood |Okay]
[music |Alex's Room- Remix maybe? lol]

I've been quite bored actually. Its a hell of a lot better than all the stress from school (atleast at the end of the year), but its still been boring. I'm taking composition lessons and still piano and oboe, but I haven't been practicing much. I have AIS (Venice) Health homework to do, but I don't feel like doing it. So I've been painting, composing, and helping fix my brother's car, partly because it will eventually be mine :). Besides that I've been doing pretty much nothing. Jill came over a couple days ago and we played duets. That was fun, and we went to Ireland. We were too tired to make it to New Orleans though. Jill really wanted to go. Next time maybe. Anyway, is anyone having a particularly interesting summer?

An update, duh. [Jun. 1st, 2004|09:51 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |IV. Finale from Symphony No.1]

So last Saturday we had our Symphony Orchestra concert. It was "Opera Under the Stars" or something like that. We played outside but there weren't no stars. It was great fun, however the clothes-pins were a bit annoying, especially when I had to switch between Oboe 2 and English Horn parts in the same piece. All in all though, it went pretty well. Veronica played the solos well, and we had microphones so maybe I was heard better than usual. Then it was Sunday and well, I'll skip Sunday cuz nothing happened. Monday came a long and whoaaaa! No school, a pleasant surprise indeed. So I spent my whole day of freedom on music of course. I started up the 4th movement of my symphony (IV. Finale). It goes at a steady quarter note=144, and with a blitz of sixteenth notes it gets pretty fast. Hm, an orchestra would have to be pretty good to play it. Oh well, I hate it when composers write stuff for lower level musicians. It sickens me, like that fucking ASCAPAPACPS... gah, I hate it, let the beginners play some fucking scales, not the "Symphony for Todlers". Anyway, nothing else is new, and I haven't done my hw yet, shit, its 10. Oh well, procrastination sure is effective. Bye bye.

The Postal Service [May. 22nd, 2004|06:33 pm]
[mood | nervous]
[music |The Postal Service]

Today us buzzies went to Gilbert's and readjusted Beau, Elmo, Mark, Fay, and Troy. It took a long time and now we're late for call time for our concert, but Mark has had surgery and had its crack filled. Its feeling better. Elmo got naked in front of Kristen and had its pads replaced. Kristen made new ones. Fay and Troy were felt up and checked for suction. They passed. Beau was screwed half-naked. Then we went to Coffee Bean. We left them in the back of the car. Now we're at Lily's house. We're really late, so now we have to go. Bye. What an exciting day.

Ya, so I have a LJ icon now. You're probably trying to guess what it is, right? Well, it's a picture I took of an outdoor light fixture on the Hamilton Music Acedemy building (on Jill's digital camera). Why I took the picture? No clue, but I guess it works as an icon, right? How do you people like it? I mean, its just a... light, but um... it has shiny glass and its aaa... well ionno what it is, you tell me? Lol.

Uh oh. [May. 12th, 2004|11:09 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |Allegro from Symphony No.1 by Benjamin Harris]

I just realized I have to have a composition completed by Friday for our Electronic Music concert on May 21st. That's not good, the piece I want to submit is barely one fourth complete, if even that. I want to submit the Allegro from my first symphony. Its going to be about 4 minutes long and in rough 1st movement Allegro form. F Major, Quarter note = 132, 4/4 time. Theres an 8 bar intro. It introduces the basics for Theme 1 but actually a variation on it. It has a trill motif that runs throughout. Then the next 8 bars introduces the very basics of Theme 1 which is a half note fourth going doing followed by a short sixteenth note run. It has quite a common structure of phrasing. At bar 17 Theme 2 is exposed and combined with Theme 1 a bit later. Then the winds take over and develope a little "comical" theme. It modulates to C Major of course (as the dominant key). The strings pick that up at bar 33 and start to build back up to full orchestration. At bar 41 it starts a modulation to d minor (but i havent written it -.- ). At 49 its solid d minor. I've written most of its developemental themes. Theme 1 comes back and in counter point with the minor section a few bars later. By this time its kind of a fugue. Then I introduce a new theme which takes it away and combines with the other themes for the final modulation back to F Major. This final modulation starts at bar 73. I have completed the modulation and it is definitely the most contemporary section of the the movement and maybe even the entire symphony. Its very strange compared to the rest. Its chromatic in the violins so that they go from F to high F in 8 bars, using I -> V patterns of holding back. It goes d minor over F Major -> A Major -> C# Major -> F Major (basically going up Major thirds). The cellos and basses create an off-beat punctual rythymn. The interesting part is the violas. They take Theme 1 and butcher it in terms of pitch. The rythymn stays the same but it goes into some weird mode (I dont even know what it is, it just follows in harmony with the chromatics). It does a bunch of variations on that and with the trill motif. So then in bar 80 we're back to F Major with 48 bars left which i haven't even thought at all about. A lot of work ahead of me. I'll probably end up having to cut it down a bit for Friday at least. Anyway, ya, I better go to bed, otherwise I'll fall asleep tomorrow and then I'd be screwed with a symphony to write when I wake up.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! [May. 11th, 2004|08:56 pm]
[mood | distressed]
[music |Giovannini's 3rd Symphony for Band]

I lost my Wind Ensemble music folder! I never lose my music! Its not in my house though, I searched everywhere so many times; its not here. The most valuable piece of music in it is the 2nd oboe part for Giovannini's Symphony No.3 which is my current music as you can see (^). Its stuck in my head and driving me mad (well at least I have some of it memorized). But fuck, there's so much music in it, I can't possibly lose it, I'd be so screwed. I can't rememeber the last time I had it. Nyah!! This is fucked. I have to have it by Thursday as Mr. Robinson will be furious if I don't have it by then. Nyaerg! Fuck! *out of breath*

Ok so enough ranting. Um, what else is new? Oh, I have an interview for the Fox movie composer finalists thing. Its on Thursday I think, two seniors and me are all that are left. I think they will go for one of the two seniors since they have more experience and what not. I mean, what am supposed to tell them? What previous experience have I had? The only thing I can think of is the music for that play thing with the LA Phil partnership last year. I don't know, I don't really care, all I can think about is that fucking missing music folder. Nyah!

Ok, I have to go now and read 50-60 pages in that book for english "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving. Ya so currently the "main character" just cut off the arms and head of a catholic statue and bolted the statue to the auditorium floor of his school after he got expelled for making fake ID's for his classmates to go to strip clubs. Lol, and thats not the half of it. Anyway, at least it gets more people in the class interested when there's sex in a book. Our "class discussions" tend to cross the border line of "not so good if a district official walked in the room". Ok, g2g. Comment please!, stupid.

Me golfing... (laughing is necessary) [May. 10th, 2004|08:10 pm]
[mood | amused]
[music |Bach Invention #13]

Ok, so yesterday was Mother's Day and so my parents "convinced" (*cough* euphemism *cough*) me to go golfing with my them and my grandmother. My brother didn't have to go because he had work >< (and he even likes golf ><). So yeah, I get up on the driving range to "practice". The result in which I almost knocked my gramma out when I hit the ball "un-squarely" as my dad kept saying. I never got the ball to travel more than 4 yards anyway. So we start playing and well, I would occasionally "inspect the lay of the land" (*cough*pick up the ball and toss it onto the green*cough*). My real score? Well, we created a new Benified scoring system for golf in which an X means we either lost count of the strokes or I gave up on the tee. The other possible score would be a / but I never got any of those. A / is for any score higher than 10 but still in count. Even my dad admitted that I should stick with music. Well, that taught them not to force me to go bore myself with golf ever again. Nothing else is new. Seriously, thats kind of sad, since my most exiting thing to talk about is one of the most boring days in my life. Well, I got to talk to Jill on the phone from my grandmothers house, so the day wasn't a total waste. I only asked her for the math hw, but just hearing her voice is awesome. <3

Darn... [Apr. 28th, 2004|04:13 pm]
[mood | amused]
[music |Mozart Oboe Concerto]

Well, it seems I haven't escaped this composing position for Fox yet. The previous imformation was officially not official, so I didn't place 2nd. Evidently they haven't decided yet, and I'm still in it with 2 other people. They might have us score a clip as a sample of our "to picture" work. To be honest, I have never scored to picture, so my hopes of not winning look real good. I shouldn't have submitted in the first place though, I was just doing it to participate, and I've heard some really good music from the other students, so I expected to be pulled out right off the bat. I assume I could always drop out my self, but I mean, that wouldn't do well with my reputation, so I'm kind of stuck in it. Oh well. I find the disorganization of this production a bit humorous.

It's inevitable... [Apr. 27th, 2004|08:07 pm]
[mood |Procrastinationative]
[music |"Homework Is Fucking Shit" - by Benjamin Harris]

To be completely honest, I'm updating for the sole purpose of procrastination. However, since I've already waited this long it won't make much of a difference because the procrastinational property of addition states that "death of conciousness comes late to those who have no other alternative source of procratinational strength". Ohhh, Mr. Rupp is subbing for our music teacher (who is away on "active duty"). It's so cool. He walked in today with dark sunglasses and a backward baseball cap. He's just the same as he was, "Same Gosh Darn thing!". Ya, but that was 4th period which is our sucky band (there are some pretty good players in it but the overall sound is crappy). We're having full orchestra so Mr. Rupp didn't hear the Wind Ensemble, but he will eventually, and he's probably heard it already when it was much better (like last year and the year before). So ya, it'll be fun, 2 weeks with Mr. Rupp conducting. Darn, 8:30, I'd better start my hFoUmCeKwIoNrGk. Oh, well.

It's a friggin update, stupid. DUH! [Apr. 26th, 2004|10:58 pm]
[mood | bored]
[music |Mozart Clarinet Conterto- his last orchestral work.]

Ok so this book keeps getting weirder and weirder (A Prayer for Owen Meany). Its turning into one of my english teacher's usual dual-meaning sexual deathly tragedies. I mean, the normal stuff for a "Riley" (my english teacher) is already in it: porn, condoms, 11 year-olds witnessing sex, vietnamese haters murdering little vietnamese kids (by throwing grenades into the little kids bathrooms- of course the main character blocks the grenade blast and gets his arms blown off, dieing). Then the ghost of the dead midget hero takes over the narrator's (who is a bastard) reverand's body and forces him to tell him that he is his real father. So now the narrator's mom is dead (killed by a baseball), his best friend is dead (blown up by a grenade), and his real father turns out to be the reverend of his church. Yeah, so tell me if that's not weird. Anyway, for the composing "competition" for the Fox movie at Hami I placed 2nd choice out of 17 I think. I don't think the results were official. Wheww, that was close, I'd have been screwed if i had gotten the job: I have no time for it at all! Anyway, its all good, cause they said I impressed an important person at Fox studios, but they wouldn't tell me his name. Ok, I have to go finish reading that weirdo book, she gives us so many tests on it, its sickening.

Updating for Jill, stupid. [Apr. 20th, 2004|05:54 pm]
[mood | cheerful]
[music |Piano Conterto No.2 by Mozart]

< ramble >

Ok, so in english we're reading this book called A Prayer for Owen Meany and its kind of weird because it starts out with this midget kid killing his best-friends mother with a foul ball in a base-ball game, then saying he was an instrument of God. Weird kinda? Anyway, having it assigned in huge giant speed-reading sections takes all the fun of reading out of it completely, its totally dead. Anyhow, what else? Um, I got a hair-cut. Um, I made it into the final round of 5 ppl (out of 17 ppl) for a Fox-Hami partnership short film composer position. On a bad note on that, I have no time for it if i do get picked. -.- Oh well, I thought I wouldn't even make it to the final round as I'm competing against a bunch of experienced seniors. Ya so im basically rambling, kinda bored right now, I think ill go talk with Jill, but since im going to tell jill that i update finally, then she's probably reading it right now anyway, while im going to be trying to talk...*nods* Awww, she signed off, shucks, well, she'll be back and I think this ramble is long enough, don't you? I wonder if anyone besides Jill will read this far...*ponders* Well major props to anyone who reads this far!

Hm...COMMENTS NOW!, stupid. [Apr. 10th, 2004|10:46 pm]
Um, actually, I don't really ever yell, so you don't have to a leave a comment if you don't wanna, but it would still be nice. Anyhow, um, I'm eating ice-cream. I'm in a chatroom, and i finished some work on my symphony today. Kinda boring, but i figured out how to mix down my dual midi instrument tracks into stereo audio instrument tracks, to panned reverberated section audio tracks to a final mix. Which is cool kinda. Anyway, i finished 24 measures on the string section of the first movement. The winds suck, so im gonna redo them. Brass is hard to do, you have to set all these fucking parameters for the correct sound, its quite annoying. Anyway, comment please, even if you don't give a fuck about brass EQ modulation.
